Blueberry Vanilla Protein Smoothie

This is one of my favorite smoothies as I just love its creamy consistency and the combination of blueberry and vanilla. Blueberries are packed with antioxidants and studies have shown that they are beneficial for optimal brain function and may even help lower the risk of developing age-related diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. I also love to use Maca powder in my smoothies, which I originally started to take to increase strength, energy, and endurance in training and then kept in my diet to naturally balance out my hormones after switching to a plant-based lifestyle.

Maca root is generally considered safe, however, as it has an effect on the body’s hormones consult your doctor or naturopath if you’re taking hormone-altering medication like treatment for cancer or thyroid issues, or if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding.

 

 

blueberry vanilla protein smoothie: serves 1 ~ 900ml

 

1 1/2 – 2 ripe & frozen banana(s)

100 g of frozen blueberries

OR

2 tablespoons of freeze-dried blueberry powder

1 – 2 pitted Medjool dates (depending on size)

2 tablespoons of vegan protein powder (unflavoured)

1/2 teaspoon of Maca powder

1 pinch of vanilla powder

350 ml of soy milk (or any other plant milk)

150 – 200 ml of water

 

 

Place all the ingredients in your blender and blend together until smooth and creamy. This recipe makes about 900ml and serves 1 (or 2 if you are willing to share). Enjoy! ♡
